Terms of Service — 42CodeLens

These terms govern your use of 42CodeLens and your purchase of 42CodeLens Premium. They are written for this service specifically — please read them.

In short. 42CodeLens is an independent educational tool for learning C. Part of it is free. 42CodeLens Premium is a single $15 payment for lifetime access on one personal account. Payments are handled by Paddle as Merchant of Record. Nothing here removes rights your local consumer law gives you.

1. Who operates this service

42CodeLens (“42CodeLens”, “we”, “us”) is operated under the name SBG by an individual operating as a sole proprietor based in Morocco, at 42codelens.com.

42CodeLens is not a company. It is run by one person, and “we” throughout these terms means that individual. There is no LLC, Ltd, Inc. or other incorporated entity behind it, and nothing on this site should be read as implying one.

42CodeLens is an independent educational project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by 42, 1337, or any school, network or institution. It is designed to help learners study C programming and prepare for the 42-style curriculum; it is not a school, and completing it admits you to nothing.

2. Accepting these terms

By using 42CodeLens you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service. If you buy 42CodeLens Premium, these terms apply to that purchase together with the Refund Policy and the Privacy Policy.

3. Your account

Some of 42CodeLens is usable without an account. Premium requires one, because Premium is attached to an account rather than to a device.

Give an email address you control, and confirm it when asked.
Keep your credentials to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.
You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live. If you are a minor, use 42CodeLens only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

4. Free and Premium

Free includes Shell 00, Shell 01, Handbook volumes 0 and 1, and every top-level Lab. The official subject PDFs are published openly and are not part of any paid tier.

Premium includes the authored material listed on the Pricing page — the Piscine modules C00 to C13, Memory, Libft, the Common Core project courses, Handbook volumes 2 to 12, and the protected practice and Solving sections.

We may move material between tiers as the product develops. We will not remove material from Premium that your purchase already covers in order to sell it back to you separately.

5. The Premium licence

A Premium purchase grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to access Premium material for your own learning, for as long as the service is offered.

$15 USD, once. It is not a subscription. There is no renewal, no recurring charge and nothing to cancel.
One account. Premium belongs to the account that bought it. Sharing credentials so that other people use your Premium access is a breach of these terms.
Not transferable. A licence cannot be sold, assigned or moved to another account.
Not device-locked. You may sign in on as many of your own devices as you like.

6. Acceptable use

Use 42CodeLens to learn. Do not:

share, resell, republish or redistribute Premium material, in whole or in part;
scrape, bulk-download or systematically copy the content;
circumvent, disable or probe the access controls, or attempt to obtain Premium material without paying for it;
share an account so that several people use one licence;
attack, overload or disrupt the service, or attempt to gain access to systems or data that are not yours;
use the service unlawfully, or to infringe someone else's rights.

7. Your code

Code you write in 42CodeLens is yours. We claim no ownership of it. Code you write may be stored in your browser so that your work survives a page reload; see the Privacy Policy for what that means in practice.

8. Our content

The 42CodeLens name, design, interface, visualisations and authored teaching material belong to SBG and are protected by copyright. Your licence to use them is the one described in section 5 and nothing more.

Official subject PDFs are third-party documents published for reference; the rights in them belong to their respective owners, not to 42CodeLens.

9. Educational nature, and what we do not promise

42CodeLens is a study tool. It is offered “as is”. We do not promise, and nothing in it should be read as promising:

that you will pass any exam, selection process, piscine or assessment;
that you will be admitted to any school or programme;
that you will obtain employment or any particular outcome;
that the material is free of errors, or suitable for any specific purpose.

10. Availability and changes

We aim to keep 42CodeLens available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend or discontinue parts of it, and we may perform maintenance that makes it briefly unavailable.

If we ever discontinue the service entirely, we will say so publicly on this website with as much notice as is reasonably possible.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms — in particular for sharing or redistributing Premium material, or for attempting to circumvent access controls. Where the breach is minor and fixable we will normally contact you first.

You may stop using 42CodeLens at any time and may ask us to delete your account; see the Privacy Policy.

12. Payment

42CodeLens Premium is sold and processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd, acting as Merchant of Record and authorised reseller. Your purchase contract for the transaction is with Paddle, and Paddle's Buyer Terms apply to it. 42CodeLens does not receive or store your payment card details.

Prices are shown in US dollars. Taxes are calculated and handled by Paddle and may be added at checkout depending on where you are.

13. Refunds

Refunds are covered by the Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

14. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by the law that applies to you, 42CodeLens is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or loss of data arising from your use of the service. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total liability in connection with a Premium purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it.

Nothing in these terms removes rights you have by law. If you are a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights — including any statutory right of withdrawal and any non-excludable guarantee — apply regardless of what this document says.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page always shows when they last changed. If a change materially affects your Premium purchase, we will make that clear rather than changing the page quietly. Continuing to use 42CodeLens after a change means you accept the updated terms.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Morocco, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live, which continue to apply to you.
